The kick-off meeting of the GeoSolar project was held at Utrecht University on 13-14 October 2025, bringing together representatives from all consortium Partners and the Advisory Committee.
The meeting marked a strong and promising start of the project.
The first day began with a warm welcome from the project Coordinator (UU), followed by short introductions from each participating organisation. Each Work Package leader then presented their activities, outlining the methodological approach, required facilities, and upcoming milestones. The project also benefited from constructive advice provided by the Advisory Committee. The day concluded with an enjoyable tour of the High Pressure and Temperature Laboratory.
Activities continued on the second day with a technical site visit to the Middenmeer High-Temperature Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (HT-ATES) installation. Partners explored the system’s wellheads, installation layout, heat exchangers, and operational setup, gaining valuable insights into real-world high-temperature thermal storage applications.
The kick-off meeting successfully laid the foundation for close collaboration across the consortium and reinforced the shared commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions through the GeoSolar project.
The GeoSolar team is looking forward to this exciting and productive journey!!
